Dr. Hanaa delivered a lecture on *Khedivial Cairo* at Biet Al Meemar. The talk focused on the interdisciplinary developments in Egypt over the past 150 years, exploring both the tangible and intangible elements that shaped the cultural landscape. One key highlight was the Khedivial Cairo Opera House, a groundbreaking venue that tragically was destroyed by fire in 1871. It was home to the first stage designed according to modern standards of that era, as well as music institutes, and later even a radio station. This era was marked by remarkable artistic freedom, allowing music to evolve through the adaptation of Western instruments to fit the Oriental style. Egypt has long stood at the heart of artistic creativity, producing legends like Mohamed Abdelwahab and Umm Kulthum, whose influence continues to resonate in the world of music.
